Charlie Adam has spoken of his delight following his call-up to Craig Levein's first-ever Scotland squad for the forthcoming friendly against Czech Republic.
The Blackpool midfielder believes that exciting times lie ahead for his nation and he can't wait to work and learn from the new manager.
"I'm obviously very happy that I've managed to get in his first squad," the 24-year-old told the official website. "There have been many changes since my last game for Scotland against Wales and I'm looking forward to linking up with the team again.
"Craig's a good manager who has a reputation for getting teams playing well, and I just hope with the quality that we've got in the squad that he can kick us on. We just need to get some good results in the friendly games and then look forward to the qualification games when they come round."
The Czech Republic game on Wednesday 3 March will be a good dress-rehearsal for Scotland's Euro 2012 qualifier against the same opposition in October.
"It will give us an indication of the players that we're going to play against and the quality that they have, so it should be a good match," Adam said.
"The squad that has been picked is strong and the majority of the lads are playing in England now and that shows how well they've been doing.
"It just shows how well Scottish football is with the amount of players who have come down from Scotland into the Championship and Premiership. I think the manager will be looking forward to working with the players."
Spain, Lithuania and Liechtenstein will also join the Czechs in Scotland's group for the tournament qualifiers.
"It's a really tough group. Obviously Spain are the European champions and the Czech Republic are also a good team. There are some tough teams in the group but on the day it is 11 versus 11 and if we can get the right results, we'll have a good chance of qualifying. I just hope we can," he added.
