New striker Marlon Harewood has spoken of his delight at finally becoming a Blackpool player. The former West Ham hitman has been training with the Seasiders for the past week, with negotiations continuing throughout with regards to a permanent move.
And late on Wednesday evening, the deal was sealed - much to the striker's relief.
"
Any player is glad their deal is over; there was a bit of complication coming to Blackpool but we've come to a conclusion and sorted it," he said.
"The gaffer asked me to come and train with the club and I liked what I saw and that sold me really. The lads are quality and they've got a good thing about them so it's good to come and join them. It's another season in the Premier League for me, joining these lads. They're a great bunch of lads and I can't wait to start playing with them.
"We're the underdogs now but we've got nothing to worry about, we've just got to go out there and enjoy ourselves, it's a great moment and I can't see why we can't try and stay up."
Harewood has bags of experience in both the NPower Championship and Barclays Premier League with Nottingham Forest, West Ham United, Aston Villa and Newcastle United so he knows just how much of a step up it is going to be for Holloway's men.
"It's a massive step up but they'll get used to it because all of them are good players," he explained. "They'll get used to it straight away but obviously it's a big step up from the Championship and they'll realise that on the first day.
"They're used to playing football but we're up against top class players now and obviously you've got to try and gel to them and work the way they do and try and stop them from doing what they do best."
The 30-year-old is all to aware of the threat posed by the opposition in the top flight but is focused entirely on providing the best possible service for the club.
He notched up 47 goals for West Ham in 142 games and his hoping he can continue to find the net for the Seasiders.
He added: "I always set a target and I'll always try and reach that and help the lads out the best I can. I want to hold the line, try and get as many goals as possible and help the lads score as well.
"It's about winning games for us now, we're not really thinking about position. If you can win games you are going to be staying in the Premier League really and that's the main thing. With the team we've got and because we're underdogs we've got nothing to lose going into games so hopefully we can turn them into wins."
