Charlie Adam can't wait to kick on against Arsenal after Saturday's great 4-0 victory over Wigan in the club's Barclays Premier League opener.
Adam was instrumental in midfield as Pool dominated play, not losing their attacking style of last season and the Scotsman was delighted to kick off with three points.
"It's a fantastic start," he said. "I thought we played really well and deserved the three points. We knew it would be tough coming here and we weathered the storm a little bit but the goals we scored were fantastic.
"Maybe Wigan didn't expect what they were going to get and obviously it is a fantastic result for us but we'll keep going. It's the start of a long season for us.
"At times we played
terrifically well and it just shows the effort that we put in and the lads who have just come in did. It was a fantastic result and next week is going to be even tougher but we'll look forward to it."
Elliot Grandin, Ludovic Sylvestre, Marlon Harewood and Chris Basham all made their debuts for the club and Adam was delighted with how they fit in.
He added: "They're good players and good players can fit in anywhere and play so it was good to see them come in and do well. Hopefully with another week's training, they'll get to know the system even better and they'll be good for it."
The Seasiders are on their travels again next week and the games just don't get any easier. Ian Holloway's men travel to the Emirates Stadium to play Arsenal and Adam can't wait.
He said: "These games take care of themselves. They're a terrific team with some great players but on the day we'll go there, enjoy it and work hard and hopefully get a result we can all be proud of.
"It's a tough league and it'll be another tough game next week but we look forward to it. It's a great start, especially on the first day of the season, to go and show coming up last year that we're good enough to be in this league."
