WIGAN PRAISE BLACKPOOL SUPPORT

Posted on: Thu 19 Aug 2010

Blackpool supporters have been praised for their role in the opening day victory over Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium.

A total of 4,554 Tangerine fans packed into the away end and Ray Johnston, Stadium Safety Officer at the ground said the following left their mark.

"The supporters were absolutely fantastic and they created a wonderful atmosphere within the DW Stadium, the mass of tangerine shirts reminded me of Holland in Euro 1996.

"We allowed the supporters a big flag and two drummers in and the people were superb following every instruction to the letter.

"We have even received a thank you e-mail from the guy who looks after the flag." He said.
