OVER2,500 people headed down to Bloomfield Road on Wednesday night to take in the Seasiders Lancashire FA Cup tie with Morecambe.
The main attraction for the majority was to have a look at the club's new East Stand but the football that was served up by an inexperienced Pool side that contained just two professionals and a Latvian trialist.
Scottish Under 19 keeper Chris Kettings produced some fine saves in the first half hour to deny the visitors who included experienced lower League players like Will Haining, Jim Bentley, Stuart Drummond and Paul Mullin. At the other end Kingsley Francis-Reynolds should have put the Seasiders in front having been sent clear by a great ball from the Latvian international Aleksandra Cauna.
Veteran defender Jim Bentley powered the visitors into the lead on 36 minutes the big centre back shrugged off his man to head a curling free kick beyond Kettings.
Morecambe doubled their lead on the stroke of time, Stephen Husband' s misplaced pass was seized upon by James Spencer who made no mistake firing beyond the despairing grasp of Kettings.
The second half was an even contest, with both teams going close.
Pool made their second change of the night when Curtis Thompson replaced Stephen Husband, the Seasiders final change of the evening when Bradley Miles replaced Pa Modu Jobe.
As the game entered the final stages Pool forced a number of corners but it was Morecambe who added a third with a contender for goal of the season when Scott Brown curled a fantastic finish beyond Kettings.
As the full time whistle approached Kettings denied the Shrimps with another fine save to deny Spencer.
