Blackpool's Australian international David Carney could make his debut in the weekend trip to Newcastle United.
After signing on deadline day last Tuesday, Carney jetted off with the Australia squad for a friendly against Switzerland before returning to Blackpool this week and he admits he is relishing the prospect of facing the Magpies.
"It's something I'm really looking forward to, as a footballer you can't wait to get out there and play and to play against the likes of Newcastle is what you want.
"I've come back from playing against a lot of really good players at the World Cup and you get that buzz and feeling and you want to do it every week and now I can," said Carney.
After winning playing under Steve McClaren at FC Twente last season, Carney was swayed to Bloomfield Road by manager Ian Holloway's attacking brand of football and the famous dressing room spirit at the club.
"I went to Holland because of that and to come here and play that way, just to play a fast game on the ground will suit me, so I'm just looking forward to working and hopefully playing well.
"I've heard they're a great bunch of lads, great to work with and a great team spirit so that's what you want to hear and I look forward to meeting them," added Carney.
