The England U-20 international signed from League Two outfit Wycombe Wanderers for £700, 000 on the final day of the 2010 summer transfer window.
Blessed with lightening pace and a bag of tricks the youngster can play in a variety of attacking roles and has slotted well into the Seasiders' 4-3-3 formation.
Upon his arrival at Bloomfield Road Phillips had already notched 78 league appearances for Wycombe - at just 19-years-old - scoring eight goals.
On his debut for the Tangerines, the forward bagged a wonderful individual goal in the 2-1 defeat to Blackburn Rovers.
The wideman was handed a call-up to the England Under-20 squad for the clash with France in February and received rave reviews for an impressive display - before being selected in the Three Lions' under-20 squad over the summer.
