Despite being a goal down the visitors created a number of chances with Spanish striker Juan Ugarte, Josh Johnson and Mike Carvill all going close with efforts, but just before the break the Seasiders finally sewed the result up.

The Wrexham defence had several chances to clear the ball as it bobbled around the edge of their box and only a full length save from keeper Chris Maxwell denied Marsh, but the ball dropped nicely for Scott Vernon to fire in a second on 42 minutes.

After the break Adrian Forbes had an effort cleared off the Wrexham line by Jones before substitute Danny Mitcheley grabbed Pool's third following a corner, with a smart turn outside the box and a shot that ended up in the corner of Maxwell's net on 67 minutes.

Five minutes before time Rhys Evans made his first real save of the night to deny Carvill at the near post.

Adrian Forbes wrapped up the scoring when a powerful run on the right by Mitcheley saw the ball collected by the winger, who in turn thundered a shot towards goal, Forbes effort was met by the head of Wrexham's Johnny Hunt on the goal line, but still ended up in the top corner.

On the performances Steve Thompson said, "Results are not important in the reserves, what is important are that those players out of the first team use the games to keep their sharpness and remind the manager what they are all about. I am pleased to say all our experienced professionals did exactly that tonight, they worked hard and showed a great attitude. Wrexham had a young inexperienced side but they stuck to their task and made life difficult for us."
