THE SEASIDERS disappointing start to the season continued on Wednesday night with a 3-2 home defeat against Conference side Wrexham.

Pool who contained several players with first team experience started the game well and dominated the opening exchanges, Daniel Nardiello saw a greater header go close whilst Gary Taylor-Fletcher had the ball in the net only for the effort to be chalked off for offside.

Having weathered the storm, the visitors went on to take hold of the game and Pool were indebted to 'keeper Paul Rachubka who produced a fantastic reflex save to deny Taylor whilst Fairhurst smashed a long range effort just wide.

The deadlock was broken four minutes before the break when Wrexham skipper Johnny Hunt fired home.

After just five minutes of the second half defender Ashley Eastham was shown a straight red when he was penalised for a professional foul on Matty Wolfenden after the former Oldham striker had found himself through on goal.

Wrexham doubled their lead on 70 minutes when substitute Rob Pearon calmly slotted home following a great ball from Rushton.

Despite only having ten men Pool pulled one back sixteen minutes from time when Rob Edwards at the near post headed home a Daniel Nardiello corner.

Wrexham restored their two goal advantage on 80 minutes when Matty Wolfenden headed home a corner from Moss.

Pool continued to stick to their task and Pool's man of the match Louis Almond reduced the arrears with six minutes to go, the young striker picked the ball up some 25 yards from goal and unleashed an unstoppable finish into the top corner.
