Reserves Return To Winning Ways

Posted on: Wed 24 Feb 2010

THE SEASIDERS reserve team returned to action for the first time since mid-November on Wednesday afternoon and saw off Morecambe 4-3 thanks to two goals from Danny Mitchley and others from Ishmel Demontagnac and Jason Euell.

Pool named a strong starting line up with several seniors players included and the entertainment and goals got underway in the opening exchanges DANNY MITCHLEY cut in from the left to unleash a powerful finish beyond Davies.

The visitors hit back from the penalty after Joe Martin had been penalised, WAYNE CURTIS stepped up and fired Morecambe back on to level terms.

Pool restored their lead with a sweetly taken goal from ISHMEL DEMONTAGNAC, the tricky midfielder exchanged a great one two with Jason Euell before firing beyond Davies.

The Seasiders were in the ascendency and added a third before half time, DANNY MITCHLEY once again showed his threat in front of goal with a well taken finish.

Neal Eardley forced the keeper into a fine save with a rasping free kick before the break whilst Danny Mitchley should have taken home the match ball when he raced clear, but on this occasion the young striker could only direct his finish wide with the keeper beaten.

The discussion amongst the hundred or so in attendance would be how many Pool would score in the second half, but to their credit the visitors had a real good go with WAYNE CURTIS pulling one back just after the re-start, but with Morecambe threatening to level the scores, JASON EUELL made it 4-2, Louis Almond found Neal Eardley wide on the right with a great diagonal ball, Eardley then found Euell with a great cross and the Seasiders club captain made no mistake with a top class finish.

With both sides making changes the game was beginning to fizzle out until WAYNE CURTIS netted his third of the afternoon and ensured a nail biting finale.

The game was also notable for the return to action of Stephen McPhee, who played just under an hour for the Seasiders.
