THE SEASIDERS reserve team played their last home game of the season on Wednesday afternoon when they entertained Wrexham.

Having played 48 hours earlier, Simon Grayson and Steve Thompson opted for a youthful side with only Matt Shaw and Sean Paterson with any senior experience. Included in the line up were trialists Abdel Tarek who has been released by Blackburn Rovers and Nick Linford who has been released by Bury. Keith Brady who was the successful winner of the recent '53 shirt auction was named amongst the Pool substitutes. Pool also handed a reserve team debut to 15-year-old 'keeper Mark Halstead who has impressed in the Seasiders under 15 and 16 teams.

In contrast, Wrexham included former Burnley and one time Pool target Lee Roche, former Hull striker Jon Walters and first team hopefuls Dave Bayliss, Michael Jones, Levi Mackin and Mike Williams.

The visitors dominated the opening half hour and were unlucky to only be one goal to the good before CABBAR BAGDAGI cancelled out Mark Williams early strike.

The second half was scrappy with neither side creating goalscoring chances, the only clear cut chance was taken by JONATHAN WALTERS following a neat move down the right.

Steve Thompson made Keith Brady's dreams come true 8 minutes from time when the lifelong supporter who won the recent shirt auction replaced Cabbar Bagdadi. Keith only managed a handful of touches and left the field beaming with delight.

On the overall performance Steve Thompson told the official website, "It was disappointing to end the home season with a defeat, several of our players were below an acceptable standard. I felt young Mark Halstead did well on his debut and I was pleased for Keith, he has trained with us over the last few days and will take a lot of fond memories away with him."
