Baptiste looking to build on good start to the season

Alex Baptiste is determined to help Blackpool continue their fine start to the npower Championship season, when the Seasiders travel to Leicester City on Saturday.

The centre-half expects a difficult match against a side that Blackpool only managed one point against last year.

Nigel Pearson's side won their first game, before back-to-back defeats away at Charlton Athletic and Blackburn Rovers.

"This is going to be one of the toughest games of the season. They are a very good side, particularly at home. They are one of the promotion favourites and they've got a fantastic squad so it's going to be a tough game," said Baptiste.

When asked if he was hoping for a similarly entertaining game to the 3-3 draw at Bloomfield Road in March, he responded: "I hope not, I hate conceding goals!

"They are a very good side, they've got a fantastic core of strikers, so whoever we come up against we know it's going to be tough.

"With the squad they've got we know they're going to be up there, so it's not going to be easy," he added.

Baptiste has started all three of Blackpool's league games this season as well as the Capital One Cup match at home to Morecambe, where he grabbed the Seasiders only goal.

The 26-year-old has worn the captain's armband in the absence of Barry Ferguson, in the home games against Leeds United and Ipswich Town; a role the defender has embraced.

"I got it last year when Barry wasn't playing and I've kept it going this year. Obviously you want your captain out there but if he can't play and I can keep my form up I'd be happy to lead the team out."
