Phillips Fit To Travel

17 August 2012

Striker Returns To Training

Blackpool manager Ian Holloway has confirmed that Kevin Phillips will travel with the squad to Millwall after he resumed training.

The striker has been suffering with a hamstring problem for the past few weeks but has now been declared fit for the season opener at The New Den.

"He's trained this week and he's more than happy. He looks sharp and he'll be in contention," Ollie said.

"With the greatest respect to anybody else, he's probably one of my favourite players ever because of his age and how he goes about things. He's ultimately professional and ultimately respectful to every single person, whether they're picked ahead of him or not.

"In a day and age where publicity causes all sorts of stories, it's great to have as good a one as him because he's absolutely outstanding. Anybody looking to be a pro should model themselves on Kevin Phillips."

The 39-year-old is included in a 20-man squad making the trip to London, with new signings like Isaiah Osbourne and Scott Robertson also travelling.
