Thomas Buzzing After First Goal

2 December 2012

Striker Says Seasiders Got What They Deserved

Wes Tomas was delighted with his first start for The Seasiders as he played a major role in the first win for Michael Appleton as manager.

The 25-year-old scored Blackpool's first after a move that consisted of 23 passes and then went on to win the penalty that Thomas Ince dispatched to make it 2-0.

"To get my first start today, a goal and the win means I'm buzzing," said Thomas.

The striker could have had a second but Nouha Dicko was the man who bundled home Angel Martinez's cross and when asked whether his fellow striker pushed him out of the way Thomas joked: "I think he did!

"I think the defender has given me a little knock to be fair, which has put me off but luckily Dicko was following through and he's got himself a goal so fair play to him.

"We've been playing well in recent games and perhaps not got what we deserved but we dug deep today and got the three points."

The Seasiders were comfortable for the majority of the second-half, despite Peterborough pulling a goal back with 20 minutes to go.

"We showed good character and went on to get another two goals and I think in the second-half we absolutely dominated and it wasn't really a competition."

"The first-half was difficult as they were getting on the ball and passing it round pretty well and we weren't getting close to them, but we dug deep and came in at 0-0 and sorted things out and then dominated the second-half."

Thomas has been at Blackpool just over a week and is more than happy with how he has settled in at Bloomfield Road and is enjoying working alongside his new team-mates.

"There's good characters here and we all get on well so when it's like that it's easy to come in to the team and show what you can do."

The loanee will now be looking for another start next week when The Seasiders travel to Crystal Palace and despite not being at Blackpool when Ian Holloway was in charge, Thomas will be going up against his former manager.

"I had him at QPR and he was the one that released me when I was there so it will be one that I'm looking forward to and showing him that I'm back."
