A Look Ahead To Tomorrow's Match Against The Robins
Michael Appleton takes charge of his first away game as Blackpool manager as The Seasiders face bottom side Bristol City at Ashton Gate tomorrow.
The 36-year-old will be without Gary Taylor-Fletcher (hamstring) and Matt Phillips (toe) though as the side look to build on their last away win at Sheffield Wednesday.
The blow of losing two forwards to injury has been cushioned slightly by the return to action of Kevin Phillips in last Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Bolton.
As for the home side, Derek McInnes will be looking to abort a run of seven straight defeats that has seen Bristol City drop from 14th to 24th in the table.
Blackpool have faced Bristol City on 93 occasions in competitive matches with The Seasiders winning 32, losing 36 and drawing 25.
Last Season’s Meetings
25 February 2012 – Bristol City 1-3 Blackpool
1 October 2011 – Blackpool 5-0 Bristol City
The Robins have just two home wins this season, but those victories did come against Crystal Palace and Cardiff City who are now 1st and 3rd respectively.
McInnes has been in charge at Ashton Gate for just over a year now and led them to Championship safety last season with a 20th place finish.
He will now be hoping that his side can revert back to some of their early season form that saw them win three out of the first six matches.
- Blackpool have kept two clean sheets on the road this season. Both games ended 2-0 (Millwall and Sheffield Wednesday).
- The Seasiders have scored nine goals away from home with Thomas Ince netting five of those.
- Bristol City’s last win came on September 18 when they beat Peterborough 2-1 at London Road.
- The Seasiders have conceded just once in the last 15 minutes of matches this season, in contrast to The Robins who have let in nine in the last quarter of an hour of matches.
Gavin Ward (Surrey)
The last game involving The Seasiders that Mr Ward oversaw was the 2-2 draw at Ipswich in January 2012.
Blackpool were 2-0 down in the fixture but goals from Elliot Grandin and Kevin Phillips meant Pool left Portman Road with a point.
