Thomas: We Need To Show Our Quality

30 November 2012

Striker Confident Going Into Saturday's Game

Wes Thomas is convinced that The Seasiders have what it takes to turn their form around, as they look to convert recent draws into the victories that will see them climb the Championship table.

Blackpool travel to Peterborough United on tomorrow and the striker believes that if he and his team-mates can match their opponents for endeavour, they are more than capable of picking up a first win under new boss Michael Appleton.

“I don’t think the boys are doing much wrong at the moment. We’re playing well, we just need that bit of luck and hopefully results will change with that,” Thomas said.

“Peterborough are towards the bottom of the league so they’ll be desperate for the points and will be grafting and working hard to get them. At the end of the day though we’re a good team and if we go there and show what we can do there’s no reason at all why we can’t get three points.

“We have to be wary of taking anyone lightly. They are down there, but they’re fighting for their lives to stay in this division. Hopefully if we can keep doing what we have been doing recently though, our quality will shine through.”

Thomas, who's on loan from Bournemouth until the end of the start of the New Year, made his debut for the Tangerines against Watford last weekend and followed that up with another appearance against Birmingham on Tuesday.

“I’ve not been here that long, so it’s just a case of getting used to the way the team plays and them getting used to me. It’s obviously my first time playing at this level as well, so I’m still learning about the division. Hopefully over the next couple of weeks you’ll see a lot more from me.

“I can see already that there are good bunch of players here and it’s only a matter of time until we turn our form around and start getting a few wins on the board.

“The team performances have been decent. Against Birmingham we dominated large parts of the game and I think we were really unfortunate not to get the three points. We started slowly against Watford and it was an uphill task to get back in the game, but the boys showed great character and we came back to get a point.”
