Phillips: Goals Will Come

23 October 2012

Forward Looking For A Return To Winning Ways

Matt Phillips believes that it’s only a matter of time before Blackpool find their goalscoring form again, as they prepare for tonight’s visit of Nottingham Forest.

After racking up 16 goals in their first seven Championship fixtures, The Seasiders have surprisingly drawn a blank in three of their last four games. The 21-year-old however, is confident that the drought is about to end.

“We discussed it yesterday - we’ve had a lot of the ball recently but maybe haven’t made things happen as much as we should’ve done. I don’t think we’ve been playing too badly at the moment, I just think we’ve not been getting the rub of the green,” Phillips said.

“We just need to keep at it. It’s not all that bad - we’re a good attacking side, we create a lot of chances and I’m sure the goals will start to come again.”

Following a spell on the sidelines at the beginning of the season, the Scotland international has started all of the last three games. Following the Tangerines recent downturn in form, Phillips is hoping he and his teammates can get back to winning ways in front of their own fans this evening.

“I’m delighted to be back involved, it’s great to play in this team because we create chances and we’re going to get goals. Personally I just need to keep plugging away, keep working hard and hopefully I can stay in the side.

“No doubt, the fans will be out in force against Forest and they’ll get behind us as they always do. We have to put behind us a couple of bad results and hopefully start moving up the table.

“I’m sure Forest will be well up for it, there are no easy games in the Championship as we’ve found out recently. We’re going to go out, play our own game and hopefully the result will come for us.”
