Holloway: A Great Advert

15 September 2012

Manager's Barnsley Reaction

Blackpool manager Ian Holloway thought that the 1-1 draw at Barnsley was a great 'advert' for Championship football.

Both sides displayed some fantastic attacking and counter attacking football in a game that The Seasiders probably could have won in the end.

"It was a great advert for this division and there were some fantastic players on show. They had some good young ones and so did we," he said.

"In the end I was very pleased, I thought we kept going and should have actually won it, I don't know how that Ince chance didn't go in. Their goalkeeper has made three or four really good saves."

The character to come back from a goal down was there for all to see once again, with Blackpool doing what other visiting clubs have been unable to do at Oakwell this season.

"We knew that we were playing a team that has got a striker in form, they do make chances and they have done at home. Luckily for us they haven't had a repeat of the 100 per cent record that they've got, which is two 1-0 wins. We've managed to be good enough to score a brilliant goal and then cause them all sorts of problems late on.

"It was a great game of chess for me and Keith and from my point of view I had to get my lot to try and understand the diamond and how he played it. I think we've learnt from that," he added.
