10 September 2012

Another Victory Over A Local Rival

Blackpool Ladies bounced back from a midweek defeat to Morecambe to record an 8-0 victory over local rivals Burnley.

Lauren Oatley took away the matchball after hitting five goals in the match, despite only one goal separating the sides at half-time.

The first goal of the game came on 20 minutes, with good build up play by the team seeing Cross play in Lauren Oatley for her first. The last action of the first 45 saw April Oldfield play a good ball down the flank to Mac Barlow but her crossing the ball just wide of the post.
The second-half saw Turnbull and Oatley both have shots on target, with a Barlow ball for Cross well defended by the Burnley backline. The second goal came soon however, after Oatley timed her run perfectly and latched on to Turnbull through ball before rounding the keeper.

then tested Steph Findlay with a shot on target but Oatley then completed at the other end following an excellent ball in from Cross. Soon after an effort by Cross was spilled by the Burnley keeper and Barlow appeared at the far post to finish emphatically. Burnley

Charlotte Gill replaced Barlow just before Pool's fifth, with another Cross effort spilled by the keeper and this time followed up by Oatley for her fourth.

Goal six came through full-back Gaby May who jinxed past the Burnley defenders to fire home, with the initial ball to her an intelligent pull back by Gill.

Kilner then played a ball through with precision, enabling Dillon to round the keeper and finish for Blackpool's seventh. Oatley then obtaining her fifth and the final goal of the game as her cross found the top corner.

City of Manchester are the next visitors to Wyre Villa on Sunday 16 September, kick-off 2pm.
