Taylor-Fletcher Pleased With Start

Forward Reflects On Campaign So Far

Gary Taylor-Fletcher believes that The Seasiders have had a very strong start, despite losing to Leicester on Saturday.

Blackpool retained their spot at the top of the pile in the npower Championship, even after their unbeaten start to the campaign came to an end.

“You look at those first four games and you would have taken nine points,” said Taylor-Fletcher. “We’re delighted with the start we’ve made but on Saturday I think we needed to realise that sometimes away from home you need to settle for a point.

“We never played as well as we can, but we still had the better chances. We can take the positives from it but we will be working hard to rectify the performance and hopefully pick it up again against Barnsley.”

Although Blackpool weren’t at their best against Leicester, Taylor-Fletcher maintains that they could have got something out of the game, had they taken their chances.

“It was one of them, we knew they were going to go long and press us from the off and we just couldn’t seem to get going at the start, but as I said we still had the better chances.”

It was the first game in which the Seasiders failed to find the net this season, but the 31-year-old isn’t worried about the team’s ability to score, due to the array of attacking options that Ian Holloway has at his disposal.

“Incey has been on fire and maybe he’s used his goals up for the first few games after scoring four so far, so you can forgive him for missing a chance!
“Now we’ve got great players like him and great players coming in like Eccleston so it’s exciting times.”

Taylor-Fletcher trained with the former Liverpool striker for the first time this week and has liked what he has seen so far from the 21-year-old.

“He looks sharp. From what I’ve seen from when he’s played for Liverpool, he’s a quick player and he’s got a bit of skill and can score a goal, so he’s exactly the type of player that we need.”
