Under-11s Win 3-0
Blackpool FC Under-11 girls completed a league double over their Preston counterparts over the weekend, winning 3-0 at Preston Sports Arena.
Goals from Lymer, Barratt and Montgomery ensured that The Seasiders went eight points clear over their nearest rivals for the runners up spot in the West Lancs Under 11s league.
It was Preston who started the game brightly, with an early shot saved well by goalkeeper Lucy Williamson. Sophie Slater was off target at the other end before Purdon fired the ball straight at the Preston keeper.
Preston applied their own bit of pressure and had two good shots at the Pool goal, both of which are well saved by Williamson. The referee eventually blew for half-time with the scores remaining level.
Blackpool took the lead in the second-half after winning back-to-back corners, Lymer received the ball in the box and planted a fantastic volley into the back of the Preston net.
The opening goal spurs Blackpool on a little and helps them step up their game, with Lymer picking up the ball moments later to play the ball to the unmarked Barratt, who made no mistake to score Blackpool’s second.
Williamson made a good save at the feet of a Preston striker to preserve Blackpool's advantage. Some brilliant one-two play between Hannah Bettison and Aleysha Montgomery bringing Blackpool’s tally to 3-0 with a powerful finish.
Blackpool dominate the second-half but there is just time for Preston to take a long range shot which cannons back off the Blackpool crossbar. In the end the Pool girls are rewarded with another clean sheet as the referee blows his whistle for full-time.
Final score: Preston North End 0 Blackpool FC Girls 3

Manager Mac Barlow said:
"We didn't start too well, however as the game went on we grew in confidence. We worked very hard in midfield and I thought O'Donnell and Molyneaux were terrific in defence and on the occasions PNE got the better of them they had the task of beating Williamson, who as ever was there to save us when needed.
"First-half we didn't find that early pass to create clear cut opportunities and dwelled on the ball too much. I knew going in at half-time 0-0 we'd have the better of the second-half going down hill slightly.
"We had a few words of wisdom at half-time and to be fair to the squad they all responded well and took on board what we asked.
"The link up play for our second goal was fantastic and hopefully the players will learn a lot from making that early pass and creating scoring opportunities for us. Bettison was a handful when she came on, niggling at them after the ball which led to our third goal with a fine pass and finish from Montgomery.
"It was nice not to concede and the bar saved us last minute. That's now a double over PNE this season and we also claimed our 13th clean sheet.
"Well done to all the squad, work hard enough and you get your rewards."
