Manager Reflects On Brighton Defeat
Paul Ince bemoaned a bad day at the office as Blackpool suffered a heavy defeat at Brighton & Hove Albion.
The Seasiders' boss watched on as the players put in an uncharacteristic display at The Amex, losing 6-1 to Gus Poyet's side.
It's a performance that the manager is determined to move on from quickly, with previous games appearing to have taken their toll.
"Sometimes you've got to take it on the chin," he said. "When you see the games we've had on Saturday and Tuesday, I think it took its toll today. We looked really leggy and we didn't even get going.
"I'm disappointed for the fans who've made the big journey down because that wasn't like us. It's just a bad day at the office and we've got to take it on the chin."
Although not best pleased with the goals conceded, Ince knows that Blackpool's recent defensive record points to this performance being a one-off.
"We've only conceded seven goals in 11 games so to concede six in just one says to me that we weren't at the races. If we were conceding four, five and six every week then we've got a problem, but since I've been here they haven't done that. We've had one of the best defensive records in the league.
"The lads are disappointed because they know they're better than that and they've been performing better than that. These lads will always bounce back, they've got that siege mentality and they want to put on a show next Saturday against Derby," he added.
