Striker Delighted To Score Winner
Tom Barkhuizen cherished an 'unbelievable' feeling after scoring the winning goal for Blackpool against Reading.
The 20-year-old striker, a product of the club's academy, grew up supporting The Seasiders and had always dreamed of hitting the back of the net for the first-team.
His dream became a reality in only his second league appearance for the club, as he came off the bench to seal all three points for the team.
"You grow up as a kid hoping that you play for your home team. To come on and score the winner is unbelievable," he beamed.
"The most important thing is the three points but from a personal point of view it's a massive confidence boost for me. Hopefully I can keep going forward now."
The former Blackpool Rangers lad had to decide on taking his chance quickly, after realising that he couldn't play the ball through to the supporting Michael Chopra.
"At first I thought I was going to play him in but the guy kind of blocked his run," he admitted. "I just dragged it and obviously the lad falling over helped massively and I just hit it.
"I used to support the team until I was about 15 and then I got signed. You dream of moments like this and it's an unbelievable feeling," he added.
