Ince: We Should Have Won It

Manager On Capital One Cup Exit

Blackpool manager Paul Ince believes that last night's Capital One Cup tie at Preston was one that The Seasiders should have won.

An 87th minute winner from Tom Clarke put Pool's Lancashire rivals through to the next round, after The Tangerines had created a number of chances.

"It's a game that we should have won, it's a game where we had enough chances to win," Ince said. "You don't concentrate and all of a sudden you're 1-0 down and you're scratching your head and wondering how has that happened.

"The way the game went' there wasn't a lack of trying because pride was at stake. We came up short just because we didn't concentrate. At the end of the day we've now got to concentrate on Barnsley because we're in The Championship. All we can do is react and bounce back against Barnsley at home."

The game was marred by a pitch invasion on the full-time whistle and the manager was quick to credit the Blackpool fans for remaining in their seats.

"It's been a great occasion building up to it, obviously over the last four or five weeks with it getting closer and closer. I must say that our fans were absolutely fantastic, not just for the support they gave us but the conduct they showed after the game.

"As much as it hurts to lose to Preston, especially for our fans, at least we can take credit as a whole club that we conducted ourselves in the right manner," he added.
