Ince: We Want Our Fans To Be Proud

5 August 2013

Manager Relishing Preston Cup Tie

Blackpool manager Paul Ince wants to win tonight's Capital One Cup tie against Preston North End to make the fans proud.

No stranger to a local derby from his own playing days, Ince is relishing tonight's encounter at Deepdale and is well aware of the importance of victory.

"I played in loads but I won't be playing in this one, even though I wish I could," he said. "I played in the Milan, Manchester, London, all of them but they're only important to the team you support, so I'm sure Blackpool and Preston fans will say this is just as massive as a Milan derby. It is because that's who they support.

"It's a game you want to win because we want our fans to be proud of us. We want to go out there and be competitive, I don't want to go out there and change six or seven players because our fans don't deserve that. Whatever team we put out there will be trying 150 per cent to get through to the next round. That's the most important thing for me."

Having opened up their Championship campaign with three points on Saturday, spirits are high in the Blackpool squad ahead of tonight's visit to Deepdale.

"You don't mind playing Preston when you're winning 3-1 away at Doncaster, so we're going there with loads of confidence. I can't really change much, I might tweak it with one or two players," Ince added.

More than 4,200 Blackpool fans have purchased tickets for tonight's game, which kicks-off at 7.45pm and will be shown live on Sky Sports. All those making the trip are asked to read through some important information by clicking here.
