Another Big Win For Ladies

2 December 2013

12-0 Victory Over Irlam Town

Lauren Oatley scored four goals as Blackpool FC Ladies crushed Irlam Ladies FC 12-0 to move up to fifth in the table.

Irlam, who could only field ten players, ended the match with nine after sustaining an injury - and The Seasiders took full advantage in ruthless and impressive fashion.

Blackpool were six goals to the good at half-time courtesy of a 20-minute hat-trick from Oatley, a brace from Charlotte Banner and an effort from McGill.

The first goal came on six minutes, McGill threading a lovely pass through to Oatley, who shrugged off the attentions of a defender before finishing calmly past Lucy Chadwick in the home goal.

It soon became 2-0, Oatley sending a stinging right foot shot across Chadwick after ball's pass was deflected into her path.

Blackpool were cruising and two minutes later their lead was increased further. Irlam failed to deal with Charlotte Gill’s corner and Banner reacted quickest to the loose ball inside the box. The centre half, who has chipped in with her fair share of goals this season, composed herself before slotting past the motionless keeper.

It was now raining goals as Oatley hit her hat-trick after 20 minutes. The game was virtually over and it was now a question of how many goals Blackpool would score.

By 30 minutes it was 5-0, another Gill corner was woefully defended and Ball saw a close range effort crash against the bar. The ball fell favourably for Banner, who made no mistake from close range. McGill then made it six before the whistle blew for half-time.

As if things weren’t going badly enough for Irlam, injury meant they began the second-half with just nine players. Oatley made it 7-0 with a stunning goal shortly after the interval and McGill was again on target.

Brodie Vogt bagged twice and Sam Ball and Gaby May also got on the score sheet as Chris Vickers’ side romped to three points.

The victory was The Ladies' sixth in succession. During that period they had scored a magnificent 40 goals, with Oatley notching nine in her last three outings to take her tally for the season to 15.

Elsewhere, the under-11 and 12 sides ran out victors against Preston North end teams, winning 5-0 and 6-0 respectively.
