Midfielder Focused On The Next Game
After being largely in and out of the starting line-up this season, Angel Martinez is delighted to have nailed down a regular starting berth over the past few weeks.
The midfielder has played the full 90 minutes in the last three games, although Saturday’s win over Millwall was a match that felt extra special for more than one reason.
“Winning in the last minute was fantastic,” said the Spaniard. “To win at home again is important too.
“In the last match my parents were here and for them to see us win was very good. I went home happy with my family and my daughter.
“When you win at the weekend, the following week is fantastic for the fans as well because everybody is happy and you don’t even mind if it is raining!”
The 27-year-old is hoping he can maintain his position in the Blackpool midfield ahead of what is a tricky spell for The Seasiders with two away games before the visit of high-flying Leicester City to Bloomfield Road.
“We work hard with Tommo and the staff and we are together like a family, which is important when you have hard work to do. When the result is a victory it is very nice as everybody is happy and confident.
“Everyone is looking forward and not looking back. We want to look up to the play-off positions rather than behind us.
“We now have two games in a few days, away from home, and I hope to get the six points and continue to climb the table and be near the play-off positions.”
Saturday’s opponents Ipswich Town lie just one point above the drop zone, but Martinez is not expecting the match to be anything like the reverse fixture at Bloomfield Road back in August when The Seasiders ran out 6-0 winners.
“It is important to go match to match, the next is Ipswich and everyone is thinking about that match as it is very important for us to get the three points and we must never stop.
“At home it was a crazy match because 6-0 doesn’t happen very often, but every match is different. If we go there thinking about the home game it will be really wrong.
“We have to give 100% and forget what happened at home because it will be a difficult match away from home.”
