Manager Reacts To Leicester Point

Paul Ince was pleased with a point after The Seasiders played out a hard fought 0-0 draw with promotion chasing Leicester City in the manager's first home game in charge.

Ince was delighted with his side's resolute performance, although it could have been a different tale had Chris Wood not smashed his early second-half penalty off the top of the crossbar.

"It was a great point. I thought the lads were absolutely fantastic and I think that after one day's training on getting the shape right, and although it wasn't right all the time, the majority of the time it was fantastic.

"The workload they put in for myself, for the fans and for the team was top drawer.

"When you look at Leicester and the quality they have on their bench it is a great result for the lads and the most important thing for me is that we have spoken a lot this season about goalscorers, but today was about the back four, the goalkeeper and Fergie and Basham sitting in front."

Ince introduced a 4-4-1-1 formation with Tom Ince playing just off Matt Phillips and Gary Taylor-Fletcher on the left of midfield and although Pool failed to find the net, the manager is pleased with the defensive performance.

"It's the first clean sheet we've had for seven games and if you always keep clean sheets you've always got a chance of winning games with the like of Thomas, Matty Phillips and Fletch up front.

"It would have been nice to sneak a win but they are a good side, that's why they are fifth in the table, and we had to work really, really hard."

Barry Ferguson was joined by Chris Basham in the centre of midfield today and the pair were typically industrious, making life very difficult the Leicester midfield trio.

"They just didn't stop running and tackling and that's all you can ask for. You want to see your team win every game but when you see the team give what they gave today then no one should be disappointed," added Ince.
