Baptiste Focused On Charlton

Alex Baptiste insists it is business as usual as The Seasiders take on Charlton this weekend and is hoping the side can put in a similar performance to last week's display at Fulham.

Blackpool's Captain admits that any off-field speculation is out of the players' control so he won't be letting it affect him ahead of the match on Saturday.

"You just carry on with your job and all we can do is focus on the game with Charlton on Saturday, which all the lads are looking forward to," said Baptiste.

"They're struggling at the moment, a bit like us, so it will be important to get three points heading into the FA Cup Replay with Fulham next Tuesday."

The Seasiders lost 2-0 at home to The Addicks earlier in the season and despite Chris Powell's side winning just one out of their last seven games Baptiste has been impressed with how they've took to life in The Championship.

"They've done well in their first season back in The Championship. I've spoken to Euellie (Jason Euell) down there and they do things right there, which is good. They're a good side and they are on the up so we will see how we go."

The FA Cup match at Craven Cottage was arguably Blackpool's best away performance of the season, considering the quality of the opposition, and the defender is hoping they can put in a similar showing at The Valley.

"We can take confidence from the Fulham game as we played well down there. Hopefully we can get the three points and then see what happens on Tuesday in the replay.

"We needed to get more solid and it was the first game that we didn't have more possession than the opposition I think so we did well defensively and we will be looking to take that into this game."

This week has been the first since early December where Blackpool have had a full week without a game and Baptiste is glad of the rest.

"It takes it a lot out of you when you get little niggles and it's hard work when you play so many games in a short period of time.

"It's good to have a little bit of a break, Saturday to Saturday, so we're fresh for Charlton."
