Ince Delighted With Goals

Winger Nets Two In Win

Thomas Ince was pleased to get the better of Wolves' Carl Ikeme after seeing the goalkeeper have what he described as a "worldy" against him last month in the reverse fixture at Bloomfield Road.

Ince struck just before half-time, before netting the winner with a thunderous 25-yarder that Ikeme could only help into the corner of the net.

"I've not scored in ten games," said Ince. "I was on that unlucky 13 number. For the second goal I just thought I had to get a yard and shoot.

"I think in the home game Carl Ikeme had a worldy against me, he saved so many shots from me but today it was my time to have that little bit of luck and it was a good goal and I'm just happy to get off that unlucky 13!

"Is all I tried to do was get it on target and if you hit the target you've always got a chance of it going in the net. Whether it moved in the air, I'm not sure but as long as it went in the back of the net and I scored that's all that matters."

The 20-year-old's first goal was the one that set up the game nicely going into the second-half and despite finishing it clinically he admitted he maybe was slightly fortuitous.

"It was probably a bad touch to be fair, when it first came to me, but I just gambled and persevered with it and Roger Johnson and the keeper had a bit of a muddle up and I just slipped in and put it in the corner.

"We had a bit of a poor reaction to their goal. It was a sloppy goal to concede and we really need to cut that out of our game, but it was probably a good time to score, just before half-time and quieten the crowd.

"The goal helped us going into half-time. We knew that we had to raise our game and the tempo of our play and I thought we did that in the second-half and we thoroughly deserved the win."

Ince is now looking to take the confidence from today's win into the next couple of games and hopes The Seasiders can soon start climbing the table again.

"There's a great bunch of lads in there with some unbelievable talent. You've seen that in the second-half with the amount of times we just kept the ball for long periods of the half.

"It's not easy when you haven't been winning games, so we are thankful that we have come to a pitch that has allowed us to express ourselves and allows our best players in the team to do what they do.

"A win was what we needed and a win here isn't easy. Not many teams come here and beat Wolves, especially under the new manager as there is a real lift at the club."
