Caretaker Boss On Wolves Game
Steve Thompson says that the spirit in the Blackpool dressing room is still fantastic and that the players have the determination and drive to get a result against Wolves.
The Seasiders, who are yet to record their first victory in 2013, head to Molineux looking to kick-start their campaign and climb back up the Championship table.
"It's going to be another tough game there, but we've got the players and the drive to go and get a decent result at Wolves," Thompson said. "The spirit is still fantastic here.
"The players are good professionals and they're as disappointed as the staff that we've not got the results. We've got players in that dressing room that, at the start of the season, everyone was raving about. We just need that little spark and that little bit of luck to get the ball rolling again."
In an effort to transform fortunes, Pool's caretaker boss has tweaked a couple of things at training to try and get the best out of the lads.
"We're putting our stamp on things and doing things a little bit differently, working on certain things out there," he admitted. "Hopefully, come the game, if we can transfer that energy and drive from the training ground to the pitch then we'll be OK.
"We're very close to getting this win that everybody needs and that will give everyone a boost."
Stephen Crainey, Alex Baptiste and Neal Eardley have returned to the squad following illness, although the virus has affected a few others in the squad this week.
"It's well documented that we lost three of the back four on Saturday morning and also Kevin Phillips. Isaiah Osbourne has been down with it, Scott Robertson has been down with it and Barry Ferguson has been down with it, while Ludo has been a bit chesty during the week. We're just hopeful that we've seen the back of it because it keeps changing from one day to the next," Thompson added.
One player who definitely makes the trip is striker Matt Derbyshire, who has joined The Seasiders on a loan deal from Nottingham Forest until the end of the season.
