Tommo: It's A Massive Win

26 January 2013

Caretaker Boss Glad To Get Back To Winning Ways

Steve Thompson was delighted to see his side come from behind to take all three points at Molineux, and in turn get their first win under their belts in 2013.

The caretaker boss admitted he wasn't too impressed with the first-half performance, but was more than pleased with the way the players took a hold of the game in the second period and produced a match winning display.

"It's massive for us," said Thompson. "The longer these draws and defeats keep going on it does affect you. We would be lying if we said it didn't.

"We've done certain things this week in training with Wrighty working with the back four and I've worked with the midfielders and the strikers and it's nice to see when it comes together like that."

Tommo reiterated how big the win was and paid credit once again, to the character and belief the players showed to come from a goal behind away from home.

"It's a massive result for us. It's like a relief. Everyone has got a smile on their face now and hopefully this will kickstart us.

"There's a lot of bruised and battered bodies in there but they were fantastic today."

Thomas Ince's persistence paid off for Blackpool as he made it 1-1 with the clock ticking down to half-time and it was a goal that set The Seasiders up nicely for the second-half.

"I knew that if we kept ourselves in the game we have players that can hurt them. We were fortunate that we got the goal in the last minute of the first-half. It was a lift that we needed and it saved them from a bit of a roasting from me.

"I wanted more movement off the ball in the second-half and I think I got it.

"It was a pleasing performance. Gilks has made some fantastic saves at the right times and obviously you've got Tom Ince with two quality strikes."
