Midfielder On Signing New Deal
Liam Tomsett is hoping to build on his loan experience last season following the news that he's agreed a new one-year deal plus an option at Blackpool.
The 21-year-old is keen to repay the faith shown by manager Paul Ince, who opted to extend his stay in tangerine to see what he can do.
"I know the gaffer didn't get much chance to have a look at my last season because I was on loan at Hyde but I'm happy that he's giving me a chance," he told the official website. "Hopefully I can impress him this season because I think it's a big one for me."
Having previously spent time on loan with Ayr United in 2012, Tomsett has gained nothing but a valuable insight to the game from his latest spell away from the club.
"I've gained loads of experience and I really enjoyed my time out on loan with Hyde last season. I played in nearly 40-odd games so I think that will hold me in good stead for the future.
"It's a lot different than playing reserve team football because you know that there is three points riding on it. Everyone is fighting for their league position and that's something you don't get in the reserves."
The midfielder is currently out in Portugal with the rest of the Blackpool squad and is in a decent condition for the pre-season workout.
"This is my second trip away with the first-team and I'm really enjoying it. It's been tough so far but I kept myself reasonably fit in pre-season so hopefully I can try and impress."
If he does impress, there's an opportunity for the Cumbrian to feature in Blackpool's first pre-season fixture at Penrith on Saturday 6 July.
"It's about half-an-hour to 45 minutes away from where I live so that's good. I've never really seen them play but I'm looking forward to it, if selected in the squad," he added.
