Basham Delighted To Be Back

30 March 2013

Midfielder Makes Return From Injury

Chris Basham was delighted to make a return from injury in The Seasiders' 1-1 at Blackburn Rovers.

Having missed the last four games following surgery on a fractured cheekbone, the midfielder was named in the starting line-up at Ewood Park and put in a tireless shift.

"It was a great feeling to be back. I played against Sunderland the other week and I still didn't feel 100 per cent but I always want to play for this team. It was brilliant to be back and I enjoyed it," he said.

"The gaffer has watched us all week in training and I've got stronger as the week has gone on. My fitness levels were bound to drop a little bit but I did feel strong. To be back in the team, I can't ask for anything more."

The only frustrating aspect for the 24-year-old was Blacburn's equaliser, with Blackpool seemingly dropping deeper and deeper until Jordan Rhodes found the net.

"All the lads in the dressing room were so disappointed because we got the goal, we were miles on top in the second-half and then we seemed to sit back. It was coming and we couldn't see it out."

The games continue to come thick and fast throughout April now and Basham is well aware that the lads will need to stand up and be counted.

"We need big characters and bravery from everybody, and sometimes the odd hero. Hopefully we'll come out shining after another seven games," he added.
