Evatt: I've Got Plenty To Offer

18 March 2013

Defender Provides Injury Update

Ian Evatt says that he still has plenty to offer, as he continues his recovery following knee surgery.

The 31-year-old defender has been out of action since November and will remain the sidelines until pre-season, yet he's very positive about the future.

"It initially took a while to find out what was actually wrong with my knee but I’m now on the right track and my knee is doing a lot better than I thought it would be at this stage," he told the club's official matchday magazine Up The Pool. "I’m actually ahead of schedule, the brace has now come off and I’m walking around pain-free. There’s still a long road ahead but I’m looking to be back in time for pre-season.

"I’m feeling really positive now and I’ve still got plenty to offer. Nobody has seen the last of me yet. The absence from the game has made me hungry for football again and that’s what’s important."

His current break from the game has been the longest of his career to date and he's found watching The Seasiders difficult when he can't be out on the field with the rest of the players.

"All I want every Saturday or Tuesday is for the lads to win, even though it has been difficult for me to watch," he admitted. "I’ve not been to as many games as I’d have liked, purely because it makes me sulk about not being involved. I’ve been a bit of a cheerleader at times and I’m still coming in to visit the lads in the dressing room from time to time. I’m sure they’ll tell you they’ve missed having me in there.

"Obviously I’m one of a number of players out of contract at the end of the season but I still want to be a Blackpool player. I’m looking to be fit and ready to play for the start of next season," he added.
