Big Win For SideBlackpool Ladies returned to winning ways with a comfortable 7-1 victory at Burnley.
A hat-trick from April Oldfield’s gave The Seasiders a 3-0 advantage at the interval, with Lauren Oatley, Claire Kilner Danni Cross & Mac Barlow adding further strikes in the second-half.
Pool showed their intentions from kick-off with a Jenny McGill effort being save by the home keeper, who then tipped a Cross effort from Perrett’s pass round the post for a corner kick. Charlotte Gill’s delivery was headed goal wards by Charlotte Banner but saved. Oatley then saw an effort from distance gathered, with the alert Clarets keeper collecting a Kilner through ball before the advancing Oatley.
Burnley then had a spell of possession, seeing an effort from distance gathered and a save from Steph Findlay. A free-kick in Burnley’s favour was then cleared by Jones and Banner in the heart of the defence.
Having dealt with Burnley’s attacks, Pool took a 25th minute lead through Oldfield. Looking to extend the lead, Gaby May did well to retain the ball, passing to Kilner who saw her effort go over the bar. With 42 minutes on the clock Oldfield was to score her second of the game, racing through she was just beaten to the ball by the advancing keeper but picked it up from the rebound and coolly slotted home. Her hat-trick was then completed with a composed effort from a Cross pass.
Within the opening minutes Pool effectively put the game beyond Burnley’s reach with two quick goals, the first from Oatley latching onto a Charlottte Gill pass and Kilner hitting the top corner for the fifth goal of the game.
Burnley kept persevering and the home side were rewarded for their efforts on the hour mark with a consolation goal. Lisa Lambshead then replaced Oatley in the Pool attack and Cross soon produced the sixth goal, her low effort finding the back of the net. Cross was then to be replaced by Mac Barlow who got on the score sheet with her strike from distance.
