A Look Ahead To The Trip To Vicarage Road
The Seasiders head to high-flying Watford tomorrow on the back of three straight draws in the league, with Paul Ince looking for his first win as Pool boss.
Gary Taylor-Fletcher has been ruled out with a hamstring injury and joins Bob Harris (ankle) and Ian Evatt (knee) on the sidelines for Blackpool.
As for The Hornets, they have promotion on the agenda, with the side currently lying 2nd in the table with ten games of the regular season to go.
Fernando Forestieri could be handed a start after he came on at half-time to grab both of Watford’s goals in the 2-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday night.
Blackpool have faced Watford just 19 times in competitive matches, winning five, losing five and drawing nine.
24 November 2012 – Blackpool 2-2 Watford
6 April 2012 – Watford 0-2 Blackpool
Paul Ince’s Thoughts
“They're a very good side and they pass the ball well but on our day we can be a very good side. I wouldn't ever set my team out to be scared of any other team playing football because anybody can beat anybody in this Championship.
“From the outsiders looking in, we're not expected to win but I expect us to win and the players expect themselves to win.”
A lot has been made of the club’s activity in the loan market and in particular the decision to take players on-loan from abroad.
Of the 14 players Gianfranco Zola used on Tuesday night, eight were loanees, with Nathaniel Chalobah the only player to be loaned from an English club – Chelsea.
Fernando Forestieri was originally on-loan from Udinese, but the striker signed in January on a permanent deal on a five-and-a-half-year contract.
- Blackpool’s most common away result is 1-1, which has happened on four occasions this season.
- Of Thomas Ince’s 17 goals this campaign, ten have come away from home.
- Watford are The Championship’s top scorers with 71 goals so far this term.
- The Hornets are unbeaten in seven games (W5 D2).
- Matej Vydra is Watford’s top scorer with 20 goals.
