The Manchester United loanee gives his thoughts after the Birmingham draw
After making his Blackpool debut in midfield three weeks ago, Tyler Blackett was delighted to be given his chance in the defence yesterday, and took it with both hands.
The left-back was impressive in his natural position at St Andrews and looks to have a bright future in the game.
The Seasiders claimed a point and Blackett was content with the result in his second appearance for the club.
"It is my preferred position, that is where I enjoy as I can get forward and back," said Blackett.
"They had (Chris) Burke on the right and I had to push him back, rather than keep coming at me and it was a good duel."
"We put everything into the game to get a result, in the end it wasn't enough, but we'll take a draw."
The stand-out moment of Blackett's performance - two goal line clearances in a matter of seconds.
"I saw the ball go to the striker and thought I better get on the line in case it went past our keeper and it was a good choice in the end."
This stint at Blackpool is the 19-year-old's first away from Old Trafford, and after going head-to-head with United team mate Jesse Lingard, Blackett feels he is developing well.
"We stayed in the same hotel last night and had a few jokes. We had a few tackles, he came in on me and I went in on him, so it was a good little duel.
"I'd only played under 21 football and that is totally different to playing in The Championship, which is a great experience. It's tough, but I'm getting used to it and it is great.
"I hope I've done enough to be in the starting 11 next week and hopefully I can carry it on for however long I'm here," said Blackett.
