Chopra: Put Our Legs Up

15 November 2013

Striker welcomes the international break

Michael Chopra has welcomed the international break, at it gives injury-hit Blackpool a chance to recover.

The Seasiders currently sit pretty in a play-off position, but will utilise the free weekend to ease a number of injured players back into the side.

Chopra trained at usual on Thursday, but with some many faces missing, he is relishing getting all his team mates back.

“We had a lot of injuries before the break, and it’s took its toll,” said Chopra.

“We’ll put our legs up, the lads have worked hard this week and it will be a break we deserve. Then we’ll come back in on Monday with recharged batteries and ready to go again.

“It’s disappointing going into the international break on the back of a defeat, but you’ve got to be happy with where we are in the league and when we all come back everyone will be flying again.

“Everything is positive, that is what we believe, and everything is going forward in the right direction. We’ve done well so far in the season and hopefully we can build on that.”

The striker has started just twice this season, but came off the bench against Nottingham Forest and Ipswich, providing a crucial assist in the former.

However the 29-year-old admits he’ll have to do more to break into the side and is up for the battle.

“Obviously I would like to play a lot more, but it’s hard to get in the team when we’re playing so well. It’s a team game, and if we’re winning that is the most important thing. It will be down to me, if I come off the bench or start, to take my chance when it comes.

“Everyone is in it together, the manager has said before if the lads aren’t putting it in on the pitch, then he needs his subs to be ready to come on and contribute. Me and Davo managed to do that at Forest and Dobbs has stuck it in the back of the net.

“You look at the league position and the lads have been fantastic, I believe we can get better and continue to improve,” said Chopra.
