Seasiders Beat Fleetwood 1-0
A Mark Waddington goal gave Pool’s youth team yet another win in the North West Youth Alliance – this time 1-0 at rivals Fleetwood Town.
The midfielder was on hand to head home from a set-piece, extending the young Seasiders’ lead at the top of the table and making it eight wins from the last nine league matches.
It left Head of Coaching Richie Kyle delighted with the battling qualities within the youth side.
“We were up for the fight at Fleetwood,” Kyle said. “It wasn’t easy given the ball bobbled around a lot, and there were chances for both sides, but we got through a very difficult game in the end.
“We had to adapt to the conditions and alter our philosophy, and we did it well. The lads worked their socks off.”
Next up for Pool is a trip to Bury on Saturday 23 November, with an 11am kick-off.
Bury, like Pool, are also unbeaten in their last nine matches, and The Shakers are the last side Blackpool failed to beat – way back on Saturday 12 October.
They recorded a 3-1 win at Burnley over the weekend, and Kyle admits he has been keeping an eye on them ever since their 1-1 draw with Pool last month.
“Bury were a decent side last time we played them,” he said. “I’ve kept up-to-date with how they’ve been doing. We’re top of the league so we’re there to be shot at, and every game will be a challenge for us.”
