The midfielder's thoughts after his return to the starting XI
Saturday afternoon’s team sheet included Angel Martinez in the Blackpool starting XI for the first time this month.
The Spaniard was making his first start since his red card at Huddersfield Town, and impressed in the heat of the battle.
The midfielder played the whole 90 minutes of Pool’s 2-2 draw with Blackburn Rovers, and was delighted to be back.
“It was my first full match after the sending off. I felt good with the ball and I thought we were going to win, so it was a pity to only get one point,” said Angel.
“Hopefully I can keep my place now; I keep working hard every day and try to impress the Gaffer.
“We did a great job, we have to keep going, but the feeling is we lost two points.”
In a cruel late twist for the hosts an own goal ensured the points would be shared, but prior to that The Seasiders looked on course for another three points.
Despite that, Martinez impressed throughout and is remaining positive, with his side sitting fourth in the league.
“We did everything we could to win the match, but being just one goal down they were always in it and that is the dangerous thing.
“In the last minutes of the match we should have pressed up. Being an own goal it was a pity, but we need to keep positive.”
“We kept the ball and were attacking; we had chances and scored two goals, which is the positive thing. In the second half we needed to press and attack, after the match you speak with the lads and we know that, but in the moment it is difficult.
“It’s still a point, which is not too bad, and we’ll look forward to the next match,” said Angel.
