Chopra Eager To Impress

Striker Looks To Showcase His Talents

Michael Chopra says he is eager to prove his worth to the Blackpool team following his summer move to the club.

The 29-year-old, who arrived at Bloomfield Road from Ipswich Town, hopes to build on his two starts and five substitute appearances with The Seasiders when he is given a run in the team.

“I need to play, that’s the main thing for me. Once I get games I’ll think I’ll be there or thereabouts," he said. “If I get the chance to do that I’ll show people that I can score goals, which I’ve done my whole career.

"I’ve got a lot of belief in my own ability and I know if I’m on the pitch I’ll show people what I’m all about."

After Blackpool's excellent start to the season, Chopra knows he must wait for his opportunity to force his way into the starting line-up.

“It’s been a great start for the lads, and hopefully we can continue that. You look at the teams we’ve beaten at home this season, and the fact we’re still unbeaten there, it bodes well for the rest of the season," he admitted.

“I’ve got to be patient, I can’t really rock the boat when the teams doing well, I’ve just got to wait for my chance and when that comes I’ll take it."

Next up for The Tangerines is a trip to promotion-chasing Nottingham Forest, a game Chopra believes will be one of their toughest yet.

“They’re a good team and they’ve spent some big money in the summer, so we’re expecting a tough game there. They had a bit of a blip last weekend against Yeovil but they will be right up for it, just like we will, and hopefully we can get the right result."
