A look back at previous Nottingham Forest meetings...
Nottingham Forest away is a fixture that will hold fond memories for every Blackpool fan after the club’s 2010 exploits at the City Ground.
The Seasiders booked their place at Wembley that night after a ding-dong battle with Forest, and prepare to take to the same field again on Saturday.
The last three clashes between the pair have finished all square, but not without incident, as Forest left it late on both occasions last season to claim their share of the points.
We take a look at the previous five meetings between the two sides ahead of Saturday’s trip.
Nottingham Forest 1-1 Blackpool – 6/4/13
It was a penalty with nine minutes remaining which denied Pool all three points at the City Ground in April.
Ludovic Sylvestre put the visitors ahead mid-way through the first half with an effort into the top corner.
As the clock ticked down Isaiah Osbourne was given his marking orders for a late tackle, and a minute later Blackpool were punished furthermore.
Chris Basham brought down Simon Cox in the area, and Lewis McGugan made no mistake from the spot to level things up.
Blackpool 2-2 Nottingham Forest – 23/10/12
Earlier in the season the drama came even later, but again it was Forest who had the last laugh.
The visitors had taken the lead in the first half through Billy Sharp, but Elliot Grandin stabbed home an equaliser to set up a grandstand finish.
Gary Taylor-Fletcher then turned the game on its head, firing the hosts ahead.
However, deep into injury time Dexter Blackstock’s neat finish denied Blackpool victory.
Nottingham Forest 0-0 Blackpool – 14/4/12
All that drama made up for the lack of it the previous April, when the pair played out a goalless draw.
Matt Gilks had to be at his best to deny a Blackstock effort, whilst Tom Ince came close late on.
The result kept Blackpool inside the play-off positions, whilst it eased Forest’s relegation concerns.
Blackpool 1-2 Nottingham Forest – 22/10/11
The first post-Premier League Forest clash for Blackpool didn’t go according to plan, as Radoslaw Majewski claimed all three points for his team.
Wes Morgan had put the visitors ahead, before Kevin Phillips fired home the equaliser from 25 yards.
However, Majewski stole the show with a winning strike 14 minutes from time.
Nottingham Forest 3-4 Blackpool (4-6 agg) – 11/5/10
The previous four meetings seemed rather mild compared to the dramas on May 2010, where Pool progressed in the play-off semi-final in devastating fashion.
Leading 2-1 from the first leg, Blackpool faced a Forest side unbeaten in 20 games on home soil, and they hadn’t conceded in their previous 12 hours of football there.
They didn’t make the ideal start however, as Robert Earnshaw levelled the tie on aggregate early on.
After the break DJ Campbell put Pool back ahead, but Earnshaw was again on hand to level proceedings.
Stephen Dobbie, who is back with Blackpool again, restored his side’s lead, before Campbell struck twice to complete a stunning second-half hat-trick.
Although Dele Adebola claimed a consolation goal in injury time, it didn’t ruin Blackpool memorable night.
