Supporters Bike To Blackpool For Joseph's Goal
A group of Wigan fans will today get on their bikes for charity and cycle to Blackpool ahead of the game tomorrow.
Around 20 fans will take on the challenge in order to raise money for a cause close to the club's heart, Joseph's Goal.
Pool fans who watched the FA Cup final may recognise the inspiration behind the charity. Little Joseph Kendrick was the young boy who was carried out ahead of the game by captain Emmerson Boyce and proved to be the side's lucky mascot.
Joseph’s Goal was set up by Joseph's dad Paul, the football correspondent for the Wigan Observer, to generate funds for research into non-ketotic hyperglycinemia, a condition the youngster was diagnosed with shortly after being born.
This will be Joseph Goal’s second big fundraiser of the season, after thousands of pounds were raised at the Wigan 10k and the family have been delighted with the response.
Paul said: "The support we have had from Wigan Athletic and all football clubs has been unbelievable. The charity has really taken off with supporters wearing wristbands and getting involved with events such as the bike ride."
