Youth Team Reach Quarter-Finals

10 October 2013

Lomax Strikes Again

George Lomax struck once again to send Blackpool’s youth team into the Lancashire FA Youth Cup quarter-finals on Merseyside.

The striker, who netted two against Burnley to help Pool into the Youth Alliance Cup Second Round, fired under the Rovers keeper in the second half for the only goal of the game.

Head of Coaching Richie Kyle was delighted to go through after a difficult first-half in the Wednesday afternoon kick-off, which also saw first-team boss Paul Ince in attendance.

“It’s great to go through,” said Kyle. “We started brightly but got a bit sloppy before half-time and lost our composure. The second-half was much better, we haven’t been playing too well recently but the results are there and we were better than against Burnley on Saturday.”

Defender Joe Moulden remains out of the Bury clash at Squires Gate this coming Saturday, and Lomax is still working his way back to full fitness.

And despite missing five weeks of pre-season, Kyle is pleased with Lomax’s efforts with the new season in full flow.

“George (Lomax) works really hard up front for us and we want to keep him fit,” said Kyle. “We’re also looking to work on creating more chances in training and we want to build on our run, which has seen five wins on the bounce now.”
