Bishop Back In Training

Midfielder Recovers From Illness

Neal Bishop is back in training and fit to feature for Blackpool against Huddersfield Town on Friday night.

The midfielder was forced out of the starting line-up against Leicester City on Saturday due to illness, but he's now fully recovered and ready to go again.

"I'm 100 per cent better now than I was, there's been a bit of a bug in my family and unfortunately it kicked in with me on Saturday morning," the 32-year-old admitted. "I thought I'd be alright but once I started running around in the warm-up I realised I was not good. I was back in the dressing room throwing up so it wasn't a great situation. Luckily the lads put in a good performance and got a decent point."

Although vastly experienced at numerous levels throughout his career, Bishop had never previously withdrawn from a team minutes before kick-off.

"It's the first time I've had to pull out that late and it was just an unfortunate thing. I've had a weekend in bed and I've fully recovered now. I'm now back out there training and trying to force my way back into the first-team."

The manager now has a number of options to choose from at Bloomfield Road, which is something that the former Notts County man acknowledges.

"We've got a really good squad now and a really good set of players. It was disappointing to have to drop out the way I did because you expect to lose your place over the season due to injury or loss of form. The lads played well on Saturday and it's up to me now to try and force my way back in, which is something I'm more than prepared to do," he added.
