Bishop: Team Spirit Is The Best

14 September 2013

Mr Versatile Praises Dressing Room Togetherness

Neal Bishop was full of praise for the character in the Blackpool dressing room, after another victory with plenty of resilience on show.

The midfielder, who is currently playing out of position for the sake of the team, scored what proved to be the winning goal as The Seasiders beat Bournemouth 2-1.

Despite seeing Jack Robinson dismissed for a second bookable offence, the players held firm and highlighted why Blackpool currently top the Sky Bet Championship table.

“It just seems to be the recurring theme week after week, the character and desire of the lads is different class. The togetherness in the dressing room and the team spirit is probably the best I’ve ever experienced. It’s a pleasure to be part of it,” Bishop said.

“I think it was a great game for the neutral, it had a bit of everything – a sending off, disallowed goals, chances both ends and obviously the Alamo in the last 15 minutes when we were holding on.”

The former Notts County man finished the game at left-back following a forced tactical reshuffle, yet you wouldn’t have thought the position was that unfamiliar to him.

“The gaffer was waving me back there and the lads at the back talked me through it. Gilo, Broadie and Gaz made it easy for me so it’s a pleasure to be part of this group. I’m more than happy to do a job anywhere. “

The Seasiders were backed by 800 fans who opted to make the trip to Bournemouth, with Bishop appreciative of the support.

“We flew down and it was still a long day so for them to come - with some saying they set off at 6am in the morning – is fantastic support. When we were up against it in the last 10, 15 minutes they were right behind us and dragged us through. Everyone in the dressing room appreciates it,” he added.
