Ferguson: Fans Can Play Part

25 April 2014

Barry Looks Ahead To Wigan Test

Barry Ferguson says the fans have a big part to play for Blackpool against Wigan Athletic, with more than 3,500 heading to the DW Stadium.

A big atmosphere is required as The Seasiders look to move out of the Championship relegation zone, which is why the club opted to give 3,000 of those tickets free to season ticket holders.

"The club gave 3,000 tickets away and I think they were snapped up in about an hour," Ferguson said. "It's great we're bringing a big following because it will be a massive boost for the boys.

"I hope the fans are there early for the boys coming out for the warm-up. When you walk out the tunnel and there is 3,500 there, if that's not a boost then I don't know what is. I always believe that the fans have a big part to play. They've seen in the last couple of games the effort that the boys have put in and we just all need to stick together now.

"I cannot wait for Saturday to come and the boys are the same. They know what is happening in terms of how many tickets have been given away so they're looking forward to it."

Fresh from a point against Brighton, Blackpool will face a promotion-chasing Wigan side with plenty of confidence. The mission is simple.

"We're going there to get the three points, we all know what position we're at and I don't really need to sit the boys down and tell them. We need points on the board and they know that. They've got to take confidence out of the last couple of games because they're starting to show what I thought they should have done three, four, five weeks ago. We've got two great games coming up, a local game against Wigan and a home game against Charlton. Six points is the aim for me.

"I'm a positive person and I believe we can still get out of this position, no problem. That starts on Saturday against Wigan," he added.
