Youth Preview: Blackpool V Oldham

23 April 2014

LFA Professional Youth Cup

Blackpool’s youth team will tonight aim to cap a remarkable season by lifting the LFA Professional Youth Cup, when Oldham Athletic visit Bloomfield Road.

The Seasiders have already been named North West Youth Alliance champions, and will look to go out stylishly in their final game of the campaign.

For eight of the squad it will be their final game in a tangerine shirt, including the likes of Sam Staunton-Turner and George Lomax.

Pool cruised past rivals Preston North End in the semi-final, winning 4-1 away from home, while they’ve also got past Tranmere Rovers (1-0) and Accrington Stanley (4-1) along the way.

Standing in their way is Oldham, who pushed Pool all the way during a dramatic 4-3 league victory back in March, when Dom Telford netted a late winner.

The Latics beat Rochdale on penalties in the semi-final after a 3-3 draw, and they knocked out Burnley in the round before.

One players unlikely to be involved for Blackpool is Harrison McGahey, who has made the step up to the first team in recent weeks and played against both Burnley and Brighton over the Easter weekend.

Season ticket holders can enter Bloomfield Road free of charge this evening, while entry for others is £4 for adults and £2 for concessions (under 18 & over 65s).

For those who can’t make the game, commentary will be available on Tangerine Player from 6:55PM.
