Midfielder Makes Welcome ReturnAndrea Orlandi has handed Blackpool a timely boost by declaring himself 'ready' for action, starting with Millwall this weekend.
The attacking midfielder has missed the last three fixtures due to muscle fatigue but returned to the pitch in a Lancashire Senior Cup victory at Morecambe yesterday.
"I needed to play a competitive game so it was good to have some minutes and get some fitness back. I'm looking to be involved in Saturday's game because we need players back to start getting points," he said.
The 30-year-old summer signing last featured for Blackpool earlier this month, with his body telling him that he needed to bow out of a Capital One Cup tie at Shrewsbury earlier than expected.
"In the Shrewsbury game I felt it straight away, after 20 minutes, that my leg wasn't right. I tried to play a little bit longer but it wasn't getting any better, so I had to stop and give myself a week or 10 days to work a bit harder and try to get fit. That's what I did, otherwise there would have been a big risk of pulling a muscle and being out for a longer period. I think I did the right thing."
Now Orlandi is determined to make up for lost time and help his team-mates secure their first points of the season.
"We are short on numbers and results but now I think I'm ready to help the team again. I feel good in the group, I feel good training with the manager and the lads, and I think I can help the team. That's what I want to do.
"I'm convinced that we'll be OK, we just need some results to build up confidence and to get players back fit," he added.
